Recreation Division Manager

WRTC has been maintaining Trinity County trails since the mid-1990s. Since 2016, our capacity has increased, and with it, the pace and scale of recreational trail work, including a number of large trail construction projects varying from OHV, to wilderness, to mechanized mountain bike builds.

Under the supervision of the Watershed Stewardship Program Director, The Recreation Division Manager works directly with land management agencies, local and regional groups, and community volunteers to determine priority projects.

The Recreation Division Manager is responsible for fundraising, managing seasonal crews, managing project budgets and timelines, and coordination with partner organizations and land managers.

Job Description

Job Duties and Core Responsibilities
● Communicate regularly and effectively with Watershed Stewardship Program Director (direct supervisor)
● With support from the Lead Grant Writer and Program Director, this position is responsible for fundraising including: grant research, proposal development, and soliciting donations; fundraising needs include the Recreational Division fundraising for the trails and youth crew programs
● Oversee the implementation, budget management, and reporting according to grant agreements
● Personnel and supply management for multiple crews, including WRTC’s professional trail crew and the Youth Conservation Crews
● Organization of community trail volunteer days, engaging stakeholders, landowners, and community members
● Coordination between WRTC programs and divisions to collaborate on projects when possible
● Interact positively and professionally with crew members, crew leads, landowners, local community members, partner organization representatives, and agency employees
● Ensure crew provides quality work and represents WRTC positively
● Make decisions and promote a safe, efficient, and supportive work environment
