Trail Crew Lead

The Crew Lead is a full-time, hourly position responsible for day to day operations on trail maintenance and
construction projects including safety, work planning, volunteer coordination, and supervision. This position will work
under direct oversight of the Superintendent with general direction from the Construction Manager and Trails
Director.
SCMTS is driven by the desire to create the highest quality experiences possible for trail users in our region. We
strive to build trails that are engaging and aesthetically beautiful, while minimizing their impact on the environment.
We are looking for someone who cares deeply about creating high quality trails to join our team as our Crew Lead.
This person must be organized, an excellent communicator, hard worker, safety minded, detail oriented and a
passionate trail user.

Job Description

Responsible for supervising day to day operations of trail crew on the project.
○ Provide project orientation, safety training and compliance, waiver compliance, and
oversight/direction of volunteer and SCMTS trail crew sta including work quality, behavior, and
timeliness.
○ Coordinate and schedule project mobilization activities and deliveries of supplies and equipment.
○ Perform Job Hazard Analysis and develop safety plans for projects.
○ Work under direction of the Superintendent and Construction Manager.
○ Oversee organization and management of shop and yard space.
○ Maintain tool and equipment inventory and schedule equipment/tools across projects.
○ Ensure routine vehicle and equipment maintenance is scheduled and performed, spare parts and
supplies are kept in stock.
○ Ensure work performed meets SCMTS and land manager specications/standards and all
environmental/archaeological protection measures are followed.
○ Document daily project updates and provide work completion reports to the Superintendent and
Construction Manager.
○ Contribute to SCMTS Trail Academy Program including developing and teaching classes.
○ Perform trail construction and maintenance tasks as other responsibilities allow.
○ Provide photo and written content on trail project progress to the communications team for
promotional use.
○ Participate in weekly coordination meetings, prompt communication with SCMTS team and project
partners via email/slack
