KC is an Outdoor Recreation Planner-Permits and Fees for BLM National Office in Washington, DC. KC grew up in Eastern Washington and is the son of the historic public servant William A Craven, the first Black Mayor in Washington State. KC worked as a teacher and wildland firefighter for over ten years before joining the BLM in 2013 as a park ranger for the Wenatchee Field Office. He worked in the Yakima River Canyon for more than five years overseeing four high-use expanded amenity campgrounds and four standard amenity day-use areas. In 2018, KC joined the Red Rock/Sloan Field Office as an outdoor recreation planner overseeing hundreds of special recreation permits. In 2019, KC was tapped as the Agency Program Manager for the BLM for Recreation.gov while still serving several roles for Red Rock, including the fee management for the campground. In 2020, KC joined BLM’s Headquarters office for Recreation and Visitor Services, serving as the Assistant National Permit and Fee Manager. KC received his BA in Education from Central Washington University in 2003 and a Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision in 2009. KC enjoys working, volunteering, and of course, sports. On his days off, you will find him playing with his Alaskan Kai Klee or spending quality time with friends and family.
