Recorded Training

Webinar Crew Management

This webinar will discuss the Trail Competency Framework and how they are being used for program and curriculum development, workforce development efforts, bolstering trail stewardship capacity, and professionalization of the trail industry.

Webinar Outline

In July 2024, the Trail Skills Project released an updated Trail Competency Framework with new competencies and further defined the skills (entry, full, expert) associated with each competency.

The Trail Competency Framework (launched in 2021) identifies competencies organized by major categories: Construction, Maintenance, Project Planning and Design, Crew Leadership, and Program Administration. The extension of the framework was defining what these competencies look like in terms of skills at the entry, full, and expert levels.

Speakers will discuss the update, process, and the new skill breakouts for each competency as well as how they are being used for program and curriculum development, workforce development efforts, bolstering trail stewardship capacity, and professionalization of the trail industry.

Speakers will also provide instruction on how to engage with the Trail Skills Project as an individual, training provider, and organization/company.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the Trail Competency Framework, the competencies, and skills breakouts by level
  • Understand how to sign-up and engage with the Trail Skills Project website platform
  • Understand how to apply the competencies to program and curriculum development
