Join Walt Bready of Trails B-Ready and Jeremy Poore of McDowell Tech Trail School as they explore natural surface trail design, trail maintenance and trail crew leadership.
2-day workshop intensive includes classroom concepts and practical application in the field on trails near Old Fort, NC
Many trail crew leaders became crew leaders because they showed up and came back. Maybe they showed some aptitude for leadership or had strong trail skills or maybe they are just awesome... or not.
Regardless of how you got your start leading crews or if you are wanting to lead crews in your local area, the Trail Crew Leader Training sets a solid foundation of both trail and leadership skills.
Workshop will consist of classroom presentations covering trail assessment, sustainable trail construction, user types, maintenance techniques, flagging and trail alignment, reroutes, work day planning, crew leadership and more all in the context of safely leading crews to complete work in remote forested areas.
Both days include classroom and field exercises. Tools provided.
What to Bring: pen, notebook, clothing for changing weather conditions, long sleeve shirt, long pants, boots, gloves, eye protection, helmet. Limited number of helmets are available to borrow.
