Multi-day Course Trail Maintenance Crew Management

Join the Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation and the Utah Trails Forum in Moab March 11th and 12th for a two-day Trail Crew Supervisor Training. Whether you've been leading trail crews for decades or 2025 will be your first season in the crew supervisor role, this class will help you sharpen your skills to ensure your crew is working safely, efficiently and putting out high quality work.

Day 1 will focus mostly on soft skills, like communication, group dynamics, effective teaching, conflict resolution, crew management and working with partners. Additionally, we will get into how we educate crews in basic soil science and hydrology to ensure they grasp the why behind what they are building.

Day 2 will be field based where we will discuss managing a trail project, trail assessments, work prioritization, teaching trail maintenance and construction skills, documenting work and post project procedures.
